Canoe Polo 3v3 Day 2 Review

General Observations and Insights
1. When choosing between a teammate and the ball, you will likely be the second option. The first person who would be more inclined to save you when you are dying (to be more specific, when you capsized and tried more than once to roll) would likely be anyone other than your teammate, perhaps your teammate's mother. How ironic.

2. It may prove unwise to have your teammates have too much faith in you. The lack of faith in your skills may come in handy when you capsize and is too lazy/tired to roll. This also applies to ball skills: having less faith in your ball skills means that your teammates would be more inclined to support you, or to pass better passes to ensure ball possession.

3. Familiarize yourself with all sorts of games, lame or otherwise, when you are young. Know all the little games, or you'll be labelled as "no-life", although it is often untrue.

4. Do all the crazy things when you are young, remember the lame stuff that you did, so that you'll have plenty of stories to share when you get OLD. Good sharing from Wee Hong and Heng Foo today. No kidding!

5. Hydrating masks are the best comfort for your skin after 2 days of scorching sun. No kidding. But I didn't use it today.

6. If you do intend to lose your glasses (you may not think it, but you may show that intention through your actions, like capsizing with your glasses on and helmet off), pick a more striking color that can be easily spotted in the pool (which means no pool-blue), for easier retrieval.

7. If earings are a must to match your rashguard (or lifevest or paddle or boat), wear chunky ones, preferably with striking colors (again, pool-blue is out of the list). The pain of losing an earing is unbearable, especially if so many of yours had been lost in the blue waters. It is tragic to think that your other best companion may be lying somewhere in the slums, to be dug out aeons later by archealogists when it is coated with dust and mud.

8. Coconut oil works better than tanning lotion. Hmm... Is that why some people use coconut oil on the hair? Oh some shampoo and conditioner has cococut extract too!

And most importantly, breaking, ahem-I-mean BENDING rules without getting into trouble is an art. Although I would like to clarify that I did not break or bend any rules today. ^^

Canoe Polo 3v3 Day 1 Review

Sorry for the lack of non-sense for the past few months. Can't think of any "skewed common sense" (although Tiong would do a much better job if he were to blog).

Anyway, some interesting stuff that happened and reflections for day 1 of 3v3 2009, mostly for Peanut Butter, but also for 4D and Quickpick.

1. The first team that was playing with us this morning got pretty excited when they learned that they are playing with Peanut Butter. We are still wondering if it was because they thought the name was amusing, or because they knew they can trash us.
Next time, we shall call ourselves Strawberries and come in strawberry-everything (bags, shirts, shorts, what-not. Thinking of vandalizing the paddles too... XP

2. As usual, nice people are everywhere. Lost my paddle because I threw it away trying to catch a ball, which I missed in the end and had to paddle toward it with my hands. The opponent was super duper nice and passed me my paddle. So touched... *tear in the eye*
Lesson learned: being nice to others inspired others to be nice to more people as well. So Yingzhen, stop being so nasty to certain poor soul. Although she's still nice to others.

3. We are not spoilt anymore. A great improvement! We moved our own equipments and take care of our own stuff. Okay, maybe an occassional help from juniors and coaches, but still... Way to go from last competition. (refer to way older posts)

4. Lian Han's hair is soft... Wonder what shampoo and conditioner he uses... Or is chlorinated water plus sun good for short hair?

5. 4D and Quickpick both played well. So proud of them!! Keep it up.

6. I only realized today that we are not paying consession fees anymore. Adult fares are so expensive! When you start paying adult fares, you are not a kid anymore. This is the time when you really wish to remain a kid, at least I wish it.

Pardon the dying off. I am really sleepy. More updates next time. ^^
